περὶ ὀρέων.2 [on Mt.18:20]

οἱ πολλοί, πάλι, νομίζουν τὴν πίστη μιὰν ὑπόθεση ἰδιωτική. "εἶναι ζήτημα τῆς καρδιᾶς" λένε καὶ μ' αὐτὸ ἐννοοῦνε ἕναν κόσμο κλειστὸν κι αὐτάρκη στὴν φαντασία του.
ἂν ὅμως ἡ πίστη εἶναι τὸ ζύγισμα τῆς ἐλευθερίας, τότε δὲν μπορεῖ νἄναι ἰδιωτική. γιατὶ ἡ ἐλευθερία δὲν διαμεσολαβεῖται, ἄρα εἴτε ὑπάρχει σὰν μοιρασιὰ εἴτε δὲν ὑπάρχει κἂν.
ἡ ἰδιωτικὴ πίστη εἶναι συνώνυμη τοῦ τίποτα, εἶναι ἡ σκοτεινὴ μήτρα τοῦ Νόμου.

the many, also, think faith a private issue. "it's a matter of heart" they say and they mean an enclosed and self-sufficient in its imagination realm. 
nevertheless, if faith is freedom's weighing, then it cannot be private. because freedom cannot be mediated; therefore, either it stands as a sharing or it is not standing at all.
the private faith is synonym of the nothing; it is the lightless womb of Law.
